一般的にヒップとして知られている高衝撃ポリスチレンは、一般的な目的ポリスチレンのゴム修飾バージョンです。ゴムを添加すると、熱可塑性は信じられないほど耐久性があり、以前の化合物よりもはるかに高い衝撃耐性があります。股関節（衝撃が大きいポリスチレン）は熱可塑性の一種です。これは、加熱されたときにそれが手作業であり、冷却すると固化することを意味します。ほとんどの人は一般的なポリスチレンに精通しています。これと腰の違いは、腰がゴムで修正されて耐性をより耐性にすることです。
